What Is Mobile Fingerprinting?

Mobile fingerprinting means a trained fingerprint technician travels to your location and captures your prints on-site. Instead of you finding a facility during business hours, the service meets you where you already are. At Royal Seal, fingerprinting is captured on the standard FD-258 ink card, the blue-and-white cards used by the FBI and most agencies that accept card-based submissions. Your prints are rolled carefully, checked for clarity, and handed to you (or mailed by you) to the requesting agency.

Ink-Card vs. Electronic (Live Scan) Fingerprinting

There are two main ways to capture fingerprints, and knowing which one your agency requires will save you a trip.

Ink-card (FD-258) fingerprinting rolls your prints in ink onto a physical card that you submit to the requesting agency. This is what many out-of-state employers, federal agencies, licensing boards, FINRA, immigration matters, and adoption agencies ask for — and it's what a mobile fingerprinting service provides.

Electronic (Live Scan) fingerprinting captures prints digitally and sends them straight to a state agency. In Texas, many state-issued licenses require electronic submission through the state's approved vendor, so those specific requests can't be done on an ink card. If your paperwork names a state vendor or a "service code," check with us first so we can point you the right way. When an ink card is what you need, we make it simple.

When You Might Need Fingerprints

What to Bring to Your Appointment

A little preparation keeps your appointment quick. Please bring:

• A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, passport, or military ID)
• Any fingerprint cards the agency mailed you, if they provided them
• The instructions or form from the agency requesting your prints, including any address where the card should be sent
• Clean, dry hands — hand lotion right before your appointment can blur the prints

If the agency didn't send you a card, no problem — we supply the standard FD-258 cards.
